What Happens Next ?
Please return your completed application
form to one of the committee (usually found in the corridor at training
sessions) or hand to any of the club coaches.
If your child hasn’t already had a
trial, these are held on the last Sunday of each month at 5.45 pm.
The Club Committee meets on the second
Friday on each month. Your application for membership will be considered by the
committee. If your application is approved you will receive a letter from the
secretary confirming your child’s acceptance. This letter will also inform you
which squad your child has been allocated to. This is decided by the Swimming
Sub Committee.
If the club membership is full, your child’s
name will be placed on a waiting list.
The current squad fees are displayed on
the club notice board in the corridor at the Park Leisure Centre. These are
payable monthly. All fees must be paid by standing order. A yearly membership fee must also be paid upon
joining the club and is also due in September each year. This fee includes the
registration fee that the club must pay to the ASA.
A squad progression document is
available to view on the club website. This gives the standards that a swimmer
must achieve before they will be considered for a move to a higher squad. This
document has been drawn up in line with the ASA National Plan for Teaching
Swimming.
Barrow ASC is a competitive swimming
club. As such your child, dependent on ability, will be expected to take part
in Club Championship galas as well as galas / swim meets outside the club
environment. Details of galas & swim meets are displayed on the club notice
board and the club website. The club urges all parents to look on the notice
board and the website on a regular basis. The club also produces a newsletter
on a quarterly basis.
The club coaches encourage parents to
discuss the progress of their child with them. They do, however, ask that this
takes place after the coaching session has finished.
The club expects the highest standards
of behaviour from your child. The club’s codes of conduct cover participants,
parents and coaches. If your child misbehaves they may be asked to leave their
session.
The swimming club has its own
website. This contains lots of useful
information. The address is:
www.barrowasc.co.uk
Finally, the club hopes that your child
will have an enjoyable time at Barrow ASC. If you are in any doubt as to what
is happening or you don’t understand any aspect of the club activities, don’t
hesitate to ask any member of the coaching staff or committee members. There
are lots of us who have been in your position in the past.
