Commitment:
The most
important criteria for squad selection are "commitment" to training.
This is measured by the number of hours spent each week training in the pool.
Below is a list of recommendations that swimmers must achieve and commit too.
- 6 x 100Fc on 2.30 with correct tumble turns and finish
- 6 x 100 IM on 2.45 with correct turns and finish
- Perform a 200 IM swim with correct strokes, turns and finish
- Complete the ASA Competitve Start Award
- Have a good attendance record and commit to the recommended number
of training sessions
- Be available for team gala's and attend open and graded meets
appropriate with their own personal development
- Commitment to compete in Club Championships and at least one meet outside of Club
champs (Not Team Events) in each training cycle (Sept-Apr & May-Aug)
- Age acceptance minimum 10 years of age.
Swimming criteria for
movement from A to A Development Squad
-
The squad will be limited to a
maximum of 6 swimmers.
-
Age of entry – Swimmers
must be at secondary school, unless there is an exceptional year 6 swimmer
who also meets the criteria and in the opinion of the coaches, can
cope with the additional training opportunity.
-
The squad will be re-assessed
every school term and the times required for entry/exit will be based
on the age of the swimmer at the start of the new term.
-
All times must be achieved at a
swim meet outside the club with electronic timing.
-
To gain
entry to the squad swimmers must achieve times from the current ASA
Graded Tables for their age. If they have an AAA time they automatically
qualify. The remainder will be decided by a points system. Points are
awarded as one point for an A time and five points for an AA
time. The top 6 swimmers will qualify for the squad.
-
Swimmers must achieve an
attendance level of 80%. Exception will be given for
swimmers sitting GCSE or A levels.
-
Should there be more swimmers
achieving the entry criteria standard that the pool can safely
accommodate, the criteria will be redressed through the SSCM.
