Code of Conduct for Participants
All club members
are expected to comply with the following 'Code of Conduct' guidelines while
taking part in any club activities:
- Behaviour and Personal Conduct must at all times reflect favourably
on the club.
- Language in public must always be socially acceptable.
- Consumption of Alcohol is totally inadmissible for all members
under age as defined by UK
law. Members of legal age are only allowed to drink alcohol with the
agreement of the Chief Coach/Team Manager. During competition, alcohol is
strictly forbidden to all swimmers whilst en route, prior to, during or
following a competition event or training session without the specific
consent of the Chief Coach/Team Manager.
- Smoking is similarly prohibited for all swimmers whilst en route,
prior to, during or following a competition event or training session.
- Personal Appearance should at all times be appropriate to the
circumstances. Team clothing and club colours should be worn when
competing or on other occasions as directed by the chief coach or team
manager.
- On 'away' trips, the chief coach or team manager should be made
aware of the swimmers' whereabouts at all times. Punctuality on all
occasions is essential and any curfew must be observed.
- The use of any drugs or substances other than for medical reasons
is prohibited. Please refer to the ASA’s
Doping Control. Swimmers are reminded to check that any drugs used for
medical purposes are not on the ASA
banned list. If in any doubt checks should be made with the ASA
Medical Officer.
In addition, it is
expected that all members of Barrow ASC, when attending any event or training
session shall:
- Comply with all codes, rules and laws within the guidelines set out
by the ASA.
- Behave without discrimination on the grounds of race, colour,
language, religion, birth or social status as set out in the club equity
policy.
- Respect the basic human rights, worth and dignity of each member.
- Not encourage swimmers, volunteers, officials or parents to violate
the rules of the club or the sport.
- Observe the authority and the decisions of all officials.
- Encourage
all swimmers to obey the spirit of the rules both in and out of the pool.
- Treat other competitors and teams with respect,
in victory and defeat.
- When attending training sessions, swimmers must
be ready to swim five minutes prior to the start of the session. Swimmers
must not leave the changing rooms until the lane ropes are in position.
The chief coach or coach in
charge of the training session or team manager will deal with breaches of the
Code of Conduct in the first instance. He/she will report the incident to the
club secretary who will take such action as is deemed necessary.
