The Club holds 5 Club Championships
during the course of the year. These galas are held to give swimmers the
experience of competitions from an early age, to help them
achieve personal best times; and create new club records.
It also gives the coaches ‘times’ for ALL
swimmers so that teams can be chosen to represent the Club in
Cumbria Diddy League, Cumbria Sprint League, North West Speedo League
competitions, etc. (although additional time trials may be arranged).
These times can also be used for individual entry into
the Cumbria Age Group Championships. These are held during February and
March each year. The Age Groups are held to select the County Champion for
that particular year. Also, the three fastest swimmers in each Age Group
to go for selection to swim for Cumbria.
Every child in Squads A Elite to Squad D is expected
to enter all races for which they are capable.
Notice of Club Championships is posted on our
notice board and the website.
Swimmers wishing to compete are required to enter
for their chosen event(s) by informing the nominated person(s) and
paying the entrance fee at the time.
The age of the swimmer for
the club championsip events is their age at the end of the year i.e.
31st December
Races are swum in different age groups covering, over
the full year period, all strokes in distances ranging from 25mtrs
upwards.
Medals are awarded to the first three in each age group
with Cups/Trophies being awarded for some of these at Presentation
Evenings held twice a year.
There are ‘Points Accumulation’ races, i.e. 25m,
50m & 100m events for each stroke, where points are awarded to
individuals for coming in the top six. The points are added together and
Cups/Trophies are awarded at the end of the year to the swimmer with the
most points..

the above details, please ask any poolside coach or committee member.
Any parent wishing to
help out on the poolside, either at one of the sessions or at the Club
Championships, please ask one of the coaches or club officials. We are always on the look out for volunteer
helpers (all our coaches for ALL sessions give their time

The club is also willing to give financial
assistance to anyone wishing to take any ASA qualifications.
