Barrow Amateur Swimming Club
PRESS
RELEASE FEB 2008
Congratulations
to Barrow’s Diddy League team who won the South Lakes
Diddy League Friendly at Kendal on Saturday 23rd
February.
The Diddy League provides swimmers between the ages of 9 to 11
an opportunity to swim competitively against other clubs. The events are based on various relays, 4x25
metres and individual 50 metre events across all strokes.
Barrow’s team
kicked off the event with a rousing rendition of the club’s chant. As the events got underway, Carnforth took an early lead, closely followed by Barrow
and Kendal. The Barrow team, captained
by Jamie Briggs and Clara Minnican, fought hard and
had a run of first places. This pegged
the overall team totals even closer, with Barrow edging ahead. There were some extremely close finishes with just fractions of a second parting the teams. After 44 events, Barrow sealed the victory
with Carnforth second and Kendal third.
Well done to
all the swimmers, coaches, helpers and supporters from all the clubs, making
this event so enjoyable.
